Binz

So much variety in one place!

Walking
The island of Rügen has a particularly mild bracing climate and so it’s an ideal place for you to be active and be good to yourself and your body. It could be taking a beach walk where the waves break on the sand; - a unique experience where one can feel the freshness of the iodine- full salty air, or by taking a walk to the Granitz nearby.

One of the largest continuous beech forest areas of Northern Germany - the Granitz – is situated on the island of Rügen between the Baltic resorts of Binz and Sellin and is approx. 1,100 hectares large. This landscape line was shaped by the ice age, which also produced, among other things; the Kesselmoore (moorlands) and the Schwarzen See (approx. 6 hectares).

Cycle tours
The gentle hilly landscape is ideal for cycle tours. For example; travel from Binz with the Rügen narrow gauge railway- Rasender Roland, through the Granitz and the resorts of Sellin and Baabe to Göhren (the bicycle can be stored in the luggage carriage). Then cycle from Göhren to Lobbe on roads with very little traffic. Or take the direct route from Binz into the Granitz and enjoy the fresh forest air.
We will happily give you any information about guided cycle tours and cycle route maps that you require.
